Personally, I have. It really doesn't matter if you are a teenager, a yuppie or a mother. We usually are the women that are depended on to be strong and sometimes you want to give up and say you've had enough. Some women will resort to retail therapy, dating the wrong man, drinking with buddies or drowning themselves with work.
Like any normal woman, I have had my dark days and the only way I got through all of my trials was through prayer and trust in God that he is my savior. We are all aware on how to pray and go to church to ask for guidance but sometimes we need a little more encouragement.
Reading the book Love Yourself (As God Love You) by Marjorie Duterte, was a nice way to remind me that there are so many reasons to be grateful. Marjorie has bared her soul in this book by walking you through situations where she was most lost and she embarks you on a journey of self-forgiveness and realization that there is always a way to tell yourself that YOU are worth it without having to seek approval from anyone else.
With each chapter she has prepared three things for you, Pearls of Truth (bible verses), Our Prayer (customized prayer), Love Yourself (a task for you to do) and an occasional Important Tip. This makes her book interactive and allows you to apply what you have just read. This makes this book a day-by-day referencing and not something you should read in one day.
My favorite chapter was The Parable of the Spaghetti, I could so relate since it has happened to me several times and when it does I always have a quick thank you to God for his blessing. You are now wondering: "So what was the chapter about?" Aha! But then you will have to buy Marjorie's book to find out.
You have 11 beautiful chapters especially written for women like us and there will be stories which you can definitely associate with.
My favorite activity in the book was the Happy Bucket List. You are asked to list down 10 things that make you happy and Marjorie shares in her book how this will help you love yourself more.
I asked some mommies from Mommy Bloggers Philippines to share and list 10 things that make them happy.
From Mommy Pauline of www.milastolemyheart.com |
From Mommy Chai of http://momsykulitz18.blogspot.com |
Mommy Jho of http://thereyoujho.blogspot.com says that coffee, chocolate and ice cream and even clean fresh blankets are in her Happy Bucket List.
A good book, a foot spa, and her kid's laugh are some of the things listed on Mommy Ayi's Happy Bucket List and you can see her full list on her blog http://themommachronicles.com.
There is nothing wrong with loving yourself, before you can love others you need to work on yourself. Right?
You need this book, if your self-esteem is low, if you are tired from your everyday life and if you feel that you are not worthy in this world, or maybe you have that question: "Why am I here?".
Let Marjorie guide you to a clearer path and help renew your relationship with God.
